100 Most Qualified Retrievers alternating Hunt Test/Field Trial

In its second year, the World Retriever Championship will feature a ten series elimination style competition utilizing “Olympic style judging”.  100 retrievers, some from Field Trial and some from Hunt Test backgrounds will square off, alternating Field Trial series, then Hunt test.  A coin toss at the handler’s dinner on Sunday night will determine the order.

Four judges will preside over the event, two from a Field Trial and two from a Hunt Test background.  Paul Young – Groton, CT (Hunt Test); Richard Dresser – Ontario, Canada (Field Trial) ; John Haverstock – Dallas, TX (Field Trial); Dave Mealman – Lakeville, MN (Hunt Test)

2005 Sponsors Return for Year Two

This event, which pays out a $25,000.00 cash purse to the first place finisher, would not be possible without the support of each of its sponsors.  Enhance Professional Athlete Brand Dog Food, Sportdog Brand, Dogs Afield, Avery Outdoors, D.J. Calls, Ainley Fabrication, and Rich N Tone calls are standing behind the event for a second year.  OLN TV, which carried two one hour programs covering the March 2005 Inaugural event, intends to provide similar coverage for the 2006 Championship.

Top 20 Finishers Automatically Invited Back

Of the 2005 World Retriever Championship Field, the top 20 scoring retrievers are automatically invited back for second event.  After a brief grace period, applications will open for spots, similar to the process utilized in 2005.  For 2006, a reduced entry fee will be featured for applications submitted before a deadline of August 1, 2005.

Please see www.worldretrieverchampionship.com for detailed information on the event.
